Hoa Mai Cosmetics

Hoa Mai Cosmetics launched its physical store in Da Nang, Vietnam, in late 2014.

In fact, I worked for the startup about half a year before grand opening. The owner, at that time, focused on develop her online store first. The main reasons are the increasing competition between cosmetics shops and the booming of social media.

She hired me to develop a Wordpress-based online store and a Facebook page.

Here's what I did:

On website:

- post each product's picture, price, description and even review of beauty bloggers (including text, videos and images with permission)

- post regular blog posts about skincare, popular makeup or skincare products and how to choose the best products

On Facebook page:

- release short posts to introduce products or link potential customers to blog posts on website

- reply to comments and messages of customers

- sometimes give consultancy if any

Apart from that, I also played a role as a marketing executive and logistics supervisor:

- conduct online and offline marketing campaigns and sales promotions on special occasions (e.g. before Lunar New Year or on Hoa Mai's annual birthday)

- manage inventory, make plan of purchasing new products or find better supplies

Is There Any Difficulty With Hoa Mai Cosmetics?

No.

In fact, I must be in charge of many different roles at the same time, as already said. But Hoa Mai was a small startup at that time. So not much hard work was required and I could handle every role well right after a few weeks self-learning.

What I've Learnt From This Project

- learn how to multitask well

- learn to conduct simple marketing campaigns online and offline

- learn to work in group and individually

Achievements

- Hoa Mai Facebook page reached ten thousands of followers after a few months of being launched

- increase web traffic

- manage inventory and product cycles well, make sure to sell off all near-expired products

Why My Past Work is Hardly Visible Now

I honestly want to show you how I worked.

But a few months after I left Hoa Mai, the owner decided to remove the BLOG section of the website. Also, she hired an outsourcing agency to develop another website for both retail and whole sales.

Regarding a Facebook page, it took much time to comb through my posts as I quitted my job in 2017.
