Wietnam Wiza

Wietnam Wiza is a "multicultural" company. It gathers people from different countries who have different areas of expertise (i.e. digital marketing, customer care or web development). Despite different time zones, we still got on well with each other and worked responsibly.

To obtain this content-writing position, I participated in two interview stages:

- Do a short writing test

- Interview with Mr. Nhan Ao via Skype

My work covers:

- self-learn about Vietnam travel trends of European countries

- discover popular keywords used by Europeans to find about Vietnam Visa and Vietnam travel

- make a suitable list of keywords and discuss with other content writers to make sure no keyword of us was duplicated *

- produce writings

- work with multidisciplinary members to optimize blog posts

Difficulties While Working with Wietnam Wiza

Wietnam Wiza is the second company I work for. Working for the company was a big challenge for me. Here's some difficulty I encountered at Wietnam Wiza and then how I overcame them:

1. Working completely as a content writer

At my first company, content writing was something unidentified. I didn't know well about the importance of SEO or keyword choice at that time.

When moving to Wietnam Wiza, I just realized CONTENT WRITING isn't simply WRITING. There are so many factors that affect the success of content. So I had to self-learn everything from scratch.

I enrolled content-writing courses, read blog posts of veterans sharing experience and practiced a lot. I struggled at first to produce informative, optimized and interesting content. But I then quickly got on well with the job and received high appreciation from a CEO, coworkers and even readers.

2. Working individually without support of senior fellows

Despite having a team of content writer, Wietnam Wiza unfortunately had no experienced leader for the team. It translates to lack of daily meetings held by a leader for brainstorming and consensus about the best idea. Also, our level of experience was different. Instead of saying "this is work in group", we all in reality "work individually".

So what did we do to solve this problem?

We CHANGE the way of working in group. Instead of having a leader to lead us and show us what to do, we self-held monthly meetings to decide which parts of tourism each would cover (e.g. Northern cuisine or activities during trips).

After discovering popular trends and accumulating important keywords, we would meet again to discuss the feasibility of keywords. Any duplicated keyword would be thought over, and we could build different titles for such same keyword.

For example, if two of us found the same keyword "How to Apply for Vietnam Visa", two possible titles below could be made:

- How to Apply for Vietnam Visa the First Time for Polish citizens

- Popular Q&A on How to Apply for Vietnam Visa

By this way, we could produce different blog posts for the same keyword.

So, instead of working under a leader's instruction, we learnt how to cooperate and do our utmost to implement our tasks well. We went to others for help only if we truly struggled with tasks and found no way to get out.

What I've Learnt From This Project

- self-learn and learn from others' experience about SEO-based content writing

- work individually and cooperate with multidisciplinary staff regardless of time zones

- know how to hold an effective meeting to reach the best consensus

Achievements

- increase web traffic

- receive high appreciation from a CEO, colleagues and readers for innovative, useful blog posts
